Happy New Year!

The week after Christmas was pretty uneventful. We spent most of our time opening and playing with all the new toys the boys got. Thankfully, the weather was decent because we went out almost every day to ride the gator. Kale is finally getting better about steering, but lots of times he forgets to watch where he is going and will just look at us & smile as he drives off! He always has his passenger Laner. We strap him in with the seatbelt and he loves it, but doesn't like when Kale has to stop to pick up sticks. He wants to keep moving since he can't get out.

The first day they ended up out in Randy's field and had to back out because Kale couldn't turn around, I still don't trust him to drive it in & out of the garage by himself or by my car, but he really is improving :) He hasn't been very happy the last couple of days since we haven't been out to ride it, but it has been so windy and we haven't been home. If the wind dies down I'm sure we will be back out there and maybe I will get my camera fixed or get a new lens and can get some pictures of them.

Eckler Christmas

We opened presents at my parents' house the morning after Christmas and got to hang out most of the day watching a movie and playing with the Wii and other new toys. Once again we got some great gifts, ate lots, got to hang out with everyone and had a great time. I didn't get many pictures because my camera fell off the table the night before and part of it that holds the lens on got busted so I had to hold my lens on just right to get pictures! Nice, right?!? Oh well, at least it was the last Christmas and now maybe I can get the lens I have wanted since we bought the camera 2 1/2 years ago :) Anyway, since it was our fourth straight day of celebrating we were all a little tired (and cranky) and left early so we could get home and get some rest. I think we were all in bed before 7 and didn't have any problems sleeping until after 7 the next morning!

Christmas Day

We woke up Christmas morning to find Santa had been to our house and left some goodies for all of us! Lane actually woke up earliest and we finally decided to wake Kale up, knowing we would be late for lunch if we didn't. The boys were excited to see a gator in the living room and after playing/climbing on it we opened our stockings and the rest of the presents under the tree. Then we headed to Middletown for lunch and the big Eckler Christmas at Grandma Barb's & Grandpa Tom's house where we got to visit with lots of family, eat some great food, and open even more presents.

Christmas Eve morning we headed back to Shelbina for breakfast and got to hang out and play a few more games of Scrabble Soup with the Pollard family before going to my mom & dad's to decorate Christmas cookies. After making cookies we got home in time for Lane to take a quick nap and me to give 3 (very quick) haircuts before heading back to Shelbina. Afer Christmas Eve service at the Christian Church we headed to Ed & Lola's for Hunolt Christmas. Of course we ate lots, the kids played games, opened presents, got to spend time with family and Kale even got a phone call from Santa (if anyone knows more about that feel free to let us know)! After all the fun we drove home just in time for the boys to open their Christmas jammies, change into them, leave Santa some cookies & milk, and get in bed!

Pollard Family Christmas

Tonight we headed to Shelbina for Pollard Family Christmas and after some great food we opened (a ton) of presents. The boys got lots of new toys to play with and are anxious to play with. We got to watch "Christmas Vacation" or whatever the Chevy Chase movie is called...one of Jason's favorites and play some games before heading home. The boys were asleep before we got out of Shelbina and didn't even wake up when we carried them in and put them in bed. Hopefully they get a good night's sleep since our crazy Christmas weekend is just beginning!

Getting Ready for Christmas

Wow! It is officially Christmas Eve and we are completely ready (I think) for Christmas. We have seen Santa (not once, but twice), made cookies and some candy, wrapped presents and of course took some breaks for play time. I am really excited for Kale this year since he can remember from day to day what he says he wants. Unfortunately, he also remembers presents we bought for others and doesn't understand keeping a secret. We had Pollard Family Christmas tonight and he told a couple times what people were opening and has been trying to tell TJ what his present his since we bought it! Oh well, it is fun to see him so excited and Lane, well Lane is full of energy and likes ripping the paper on presents, especially on other preople's presents and when he isn't supposed to be!

Latchford's Lights

Tonight we headed to Callao with the Pollard family to see Lathford's lights. They have a huge display of lights that you can drive by and get out and walk thru. After meeting up and eating some Pizza Hut we bundled up (or wished we would have anyway) and went to see the lights. Frosty was even there tonight along with Mickey Mouse & Minnie Mouse.

Today Kale & I put ornaments on our tree and finished it off with candy canes. Maybe it was decorating mom & dad's tree that put me in the decorating mood, or maybe it was the boxes of ornaments sitting around waiting to be put up that I have looked at for a week and a half, or maybe the hundreds of times I have had to answer Kale when he asked when we could put the candy canes on the tree, but I finally gave up on the idea of it being family time and went ahead and did it during Lane's naptime today.

I know Christmas is the same day every year, but I swear this year we must have skipped a few days somewhere. In order to get mom's tree decorated before Christmas we had a week night gathering. Good thing Kyle lives in MO now! :) Mom & dad already had the tree cut down and all ready to go in the house so after supper we brought it in and got down to business.

Jason & Kale have started coon trapping and have caught two so far. Kale loves going to check the traps and was so excited the day after they got the second one that he told a nice (random) lady at WalMart that he got another coon that day. She didn't understand and I didn't explain ;)

Great Wolf Lodge

Last weekend we headed to Great Wolf Lodge in Kansas City, KS for the weekend. We had a great time swimming, got a little shopping done, a lot of eating, and had fun just hanging out! Kale loved the water park and jumped on Santa's lap without hesitation! Lane liked the water too, but was not happy with being put on Santa's lap. I don't have many pictures because my camera battery was dead when we got there and I started trying to take pictures so I had to charge it and I didn't take it to the water park area the second day.

We got our first snow early last week, Kale was pretty excited so during Lane's morning nap we went outside to play in it.

Deer Hunting

Jason & Kale built a box blind earlier this year and were very excited to try it out during deer season. On their second night out they shot a doe and Kale was super excited to talk about the "big ol doe" they got! Since then he has been "deer hunting" in the house many a days.

Halloween

Kale was up sick the night before Halloween all night and still not able to eat the next day so we decided to stay home that night and try trick-or-treating later in the week. We went a couple of nights later after Kale was better (or so we thought). After Kale being sick for about a week and thinking how lucky we were that Lane didn't get it our luck changed and he got it. Thank goodness we got some trick-or-treating in before that happened because it ended up being about a two week ordeal!

Wow! Where did the past year go? Our baby Laner turned one, has started walking, and is ornery (more so than Kale ever was!). We love him and I'm not sure what we ever did without him! Kale & Lane get along for the most part and Kale was excited for all the new toys Lane got for them to play with :)

October recap

October is one of my favorite months. I love fall weather, football, my birthday and the leaves changing colors! This year fall has been even better because Jason's work schedule isn't even close to being as crazy as in the past, we are back in Missouri so our driving time is cut way down and we are able to fit more things in!

One day after the boys got up from their afternoon nap I walked into the living room to see Kale had taken the scarecrow to the front door so he could see what was going on

My birthday fell on the Friday of Mizzou Homecoming so we celebrated with Buffalo Wild Wings & house decs Friday night and headed back to Columbia early Saturday morning for the parade & game!

We had our annual trip to the pumpkin patch with the Pollard famiy in early October this year. Kale really liked getting to feed the deer and picking out his pumpkin and absolutely loved the straw tunnel. He was still going through it when we were loading Lane into the car to head back to Shelbina!

Weekend Fun

We had a great weekend that started out hot, but ended with super weather and has us all excited for fall and everything {weinie roasts, football games, harvest, pumpkins, cool weather, my birthday, Lane's 1st birthday} that goes with this time of year!! We spent most of Saturday & Sunday in Bethel at the World Sheep Festival :) Kale did mutton busting {rode the sheep} and liked to talk about it more than actually riding, but had fun just the same. Sunday night the boys were worn out and slept good! We BBQ'ed Monday afternoon and spent a large part of the day outside before heading out Monday night to find some pumpkins. I don't have any pictures of Sheep Fest, but maybe will steal some from somebody once they post theirs :)

For those of you who didn't know today is National College Colors Day! (Don't feel bad- I just happened to see it on facebook) While we won't be going to the Mizzou Home Opener tomorrow or sporting our black & gold {we will be rocking our cowboy shirts & boots...well the boys anyway} we are super excited for football season to start! And since we don't need our jerseys tomorrow we decided to support the Tigers today!

Jason went dove hunting yesterday {opening day} morning and didn't get anything. So after the boys got home from getting haircuts Jason & Kale went out to see if they could have any better luck. Kale was super excited when Jason asked him if he wanted to go hunting...

The past few weeks we have been enjoying our slow time and just hanging out playing at home. Yesterday was super hot so we stayed inside most of the day and I finally got my camera out and took a few pictures. For the most part the boys play really well together...except Kale doesn't like having to share everything all the time and wouldn't you know it, he always has the toy that Lane thinks he needs! Lane has turned into a daddy's boy and crawls as fast as he can to Jason as soon as he sees him. He might be worse than Kale!

Happy 90th Grandma Cile

Grandma Cile turned 90!!! There was an Open House to celebrate followed by a BIG family meal to conclude the party! I didn't take many pictures, but we had a good time with all the family. It's great when we all get together {since we are all spread out, it is usually only Christmas} and as always we had some delicious food.

Pollard Family Vaca

We have had a bUsY & FuN summer so far and this past weekend was no exception as we headed to the Lake for a vacation with the whole Pollard clan. We drove down Saturday morning and our first stop was Miner Mike's. After lunch we rode a few rides & played some games...

After Miner Mike's we headed back to the resort and went swimming. I didn't get any pictures because it started raining after a while and we headed back to our room for Kale & Lane to take naps. After naps we went out to supper. Kale & I enjoyed our meal, but not everyone agreed that the food was good...okay nobody else liked it! But we still had a good time Saturday night.

Once we got back to the resort we headed back to the pool for the "dive-in" movie and got to watch Tangled while swimming/hanging out by the pool. We didn't make it through the whole movie before we headed to our room for some sleep.

The next morning we packed up and got ready for another fun day!

We went miniature golfing at the resort before heading to the 54 Diner for brunch. After eating, most of us headed to the Outlet Mall for a little shopping. We made it to a few stores before heading home and the boys slept the whole way back so it was a pretty easy drive with only one stop for gas!

Jason decided Kale needed to take a golf etiquette class and I decided he probably isn't going to make it as a golfer :)

We had a great time and it was awesome that everyone was able to make it! I can't believe how fast this {every} summer has flown by. It is already time for State Fair and school to start {not that school applies to us} and summer will soon be over! It will be nice to slow down a bit and get a few things, besides the animals, {priorities, huh?} hung on our walls and oh yeah, the cooler weather will be nice too!

Lane is crawling everywhere and is starting to pull up so no more just sitting him with toys and not worrying about him. And Kale is learning to share or run somewhere else to keep Lane from getting his toy!

Lewis County Fair

I love summer time and the biggest reason {however crazy I may seem} is for showing sheep and hanging out with our fair family! Last week was our first fair of the season; the weather had cooled off {thank goodness}, we had a great time, and did really well. After going back & forth Kale did the peewee show. We hadn't planned on him doing it so we didn't have a special ewe picked out, but he {we} took out a black ewe lamb and he did fine. We are definitely going to have to work more before State Fair though!

4th of July weekend

Our weekend was loaded with fun and fireworks! We started with a wedding reception Saturday night, church & a rodeo on Sunday, and a swim party/BBQ followed by fireworks on Monday. We also found time to walk lambs Monday morning. This has been our best fourth of July yet because after seeing the fireworks we got to go home to our own house! I am so thankful we are back in MO :)

I can't believe how fast Kale is growing up! After a fun birthday weekend there wasn't a lot of excitement on the actual day. We had pancakes {I promise I know how to cook other things, but the boys love panckaes} for breakfast. Lane & I sang to Kale and he got to blow out candles. We headed to Quincy for the day. We ate at Pizza Hut and did some shopping before heading home. Jason worked it out so he could drive back to MO for the night so we sang to Kale again and then enjoyed some cupcakes.

We are moved to Missouri (and have been for a while now)! The Easter bunny found us in Missouri this year without any problems and left Kale & Lane a basket full of goodies. After waking all 3 boys up we checked out their candy, Kale ate some, got dressed and headed to Middletown for church. We went to Grandma Barb's church and even got to hear Grandma play the piano!

Wow, this year has been flying by! I can't believe March is already over. I'm sure April will fly by just as fast as we try to figure out living arrangements, moving plans, and celebrate some birthdays & Easter during this month.

Since the boys were all dressed up (with fresh haircuts) we took some pictures after church. I wanted to take some before church, but of course we didn't have time and Lane was crabby!

So, here are the best of my attempt to get the boys to look & smile at me at 12:30 (before lunch)...not good timing, for Kale especially, but he did pretty good :).

The weather was great today, windy, but otherwise awesome. Jason got home right after naps & we spent the rest of the afternoon outside.

Hopefully we don't get the storms the weatherman has been talking about and it stays nice for awhile!

Spring Has Arrived!

Yesterday morning when we were outside we found something in the front flower bed. When Jason got home and heard what we had found he had to go see for himself...

and put it in a bucket for closer inspection...

this is the second time we have had a nest of rabbits in this flower bed, last time Jason tried to save them, but one of the neighborhood cats got them :(

The mama rabbit was with them last night and we checked on them this afternoon and they were doing good...they should be safe from cats (Jason took care of that problem)

We're Moving!!

We are super excited that Jason took a new position with CPS and we are moving to Missouri! We have a contract on our house and the closing date is May 12 so we have less than 6 weeks left in this house. We will finally be residents of Missouri again! Yay for moving closer to family (most anyway, sorry Kyle), new drivers license (no more MN!) and of course, cheaper hunting tags :) We are planning on living in Shelby County and will be moving there after we close on our house. Jason will be working in Illinois for a while longer (July) so it may be tricky at first, but we are happy we are finally moving "home".

It's hard to believe Kale will be 21 months this Sunday and we will have a 2 year old before long. I am getting old (but not as old as someone with a 16 year old or someone with a kid in kindergarten!) Kale is becoming quite the character and is lots of fun (most days). He picked out his own clothes today and looked cute so I thought I would take some pictures and share a few. Kale wanted "baby" in the picture, but Lane is napping so it's just Kale this time. Like a typical toddler (I think) he sometimes has a hard time sitting/standing still. I should have known the first one would be the best, but the last one is my favorite!

After a long week & weekend I am slowly getting caught up. Kale & Lane have been sick this past week, thankfully it happened after Jason got home from his fishing trip! After several loads of laundry, some breathing treatments, and a round of steroids they are better (or getting there anyway). We didn't go anywhere this weekend- not even church and last night was the first night in what seems like forever everyone slept all night. Both boys are taking extra long naps right now. I'm hoping that means they really are feeling better! After I finish the 8 loads of laundry that I have been putting off and get the dishwasher unloaded & loaded I really will be all caught up (until tonight)- yay! Minus the fact we have no food left and I need to go grocery shopping. Oh well, I think we will survive another night without bread & tea.

I am even caught up with the blog (for now) so enjoy the pictures and I promise I will do better (I hope).

I think that is one of the best feelings ever- now if the dryer would just hurry up!

March Mayhem

Kale's favorite show this past month has been "Last American Cowboy". Thank goodness I DVR'ed it because it has been helpful more than once to be able to play it, especially when Jason was gone for five days. The episode we watch shows a cattle drive. One of the cows gets tired and the ranchers load her in a trailer using a tractor.

One afternoon I came back to the living room to find Kale putting his cow in his loader

judging by his face she must have been heavy- you can also see he is a long haired country boy in need of a haircut!

There isn't a day that goes by without Kale playing with his hammer

he started off barely tapping on his tower

but then got a little rougher

and after it fell he looked at me like, what happened?!?

It is fun to watch Kale & Lane now that Lane is getting more active. They "talk" to each other and Lane loves when Kale talks to him.

While Jason was gone both boys got much needed haircuts. It took two nights (one for each boy) but we got it done and I think they both look adorable :)

February Fun

We had our own SuperBowl party (just the 4 of us) and ate nachos & pizza while watching the game. Kale was excited and Lane wide eyed...not so sure about the excited part though.

During the long days of February we tried to keep busy inside. Here is a fun project (I stole from another blogger) Kale did/ate one day :)

The Blizzard of 2011 did not hit us as hard as it hit NE MO, but we still got quite a bit of snow.

Sheep Sitting

We got to sheep sit when mom & dad headed to Wisconsin to help Kyle move to Illinois. Yay for Kyle moving closer! We headed back to MO Friday afternoon and made it there in time to get all the instructions and see mom & dad off. Since chores had already been done we only had to check on the ewes. Jason found a set of twins and thankfully they were smart lambs and didn't require extra attention :) Those were the only lambs we had all weekend and we kept them alive so maybe we will be able to sheep sit again...I just hope it is during the beginning and not in the middle or really busy time.

First Haircut

Growing Up

I am amazed at how fast Kale is growing and changing. He is so much fun right now and there never seems to be a dull moment when he is awake! Lane is growing like a weed and adds so much to our family too. I can't imagine life without the kiddos and thank God for blessing us with two amazing boys everyday!

Lane's Baptism

We are truly blessed to have an amazing family and love that they were able to make the trip over for Lane's baptism today. Most of the Pollard family came over a day early and we got to hang out at the house Saturday afternoon. The kids had fun playing and Kale was definitely worn out, he went to bed before 7:00! Even though the roads were nasty and it sounded like the weather might get bad Lane had a lot of family at church for his big day. Luckily I took a few pictures of him in his baptism outfit earlier in the week or I wouldn't have gotten any because we were running late- Surprise! All of our guests made it to church before us.

Kale absolutely loves being outside, even on the coldest days he is not very happy when he has to come inside. A lot of times during the day you can find him climbing any & everything to look out the windows. The other night Jason took him sledding and then for a 4-wheeler ride. Welcome Brody Kyle Belt

The Belt family welcomed a beautiful baby boy, Brody Kyle, on January 6th! Jason had a meeting in Hannibal so we dropped him off and headed to Columbia so we could be there to welcome Baby #4 on his or her birthday. After a trip to the mall, lunch at McDonalds and naps in the parking lot we were super excited to find out "It's a boy!"

Brotherly Love

Kale & Lane are growing fast and changing all the time. Kale is starting to "talk" a lot more and we can understand some words and think we know what he is talking about sometimes. He loves going outside, climbing on everything inside to look out the windows, and now can open most of the doors in our house. The other night we found him in the garage feeding Daisy so we have started locking that door. A couple of nights later I heard something and found him with his play hammer beating on the door handle trying to get it open! Lane is still a good baby. He takes a couple of naps, but is awake a lot more during the day. He is pretty happy baby {most of the time} and still has crazy hair, just like his brother :) The boys take a bath together and they both love bathtime. Lane still is in his little bathtub and we have to watch Kale because he likes to try and splash him.

I was a little slow getting these pictures, but they are just a few days after Lane turned 2 months old. He is growing up and really is a happy baby! I think I took pictures of Kale everyday when he was a baby and definitely don't take near as many of Lane, but am trying to do a better job since he is changing so fast!

Pollard Christmas

Our final Christmas was the big Pollard Christmas on New Year's Day. New Year's Eve we spent in Shelbina at a friend's house where Kale actually stayed up until midnight before we headed to Ed & Lola's for some sleep. The next morning the Macon Pollards, Les, & Chelsey came over for lunch and we got to spend some time just hanging out before heading to the Christmas party at Jason's aunt's house. It is the only time during the year that everyone is all together and even though not everyone made it, it was still a house & garage full. Checkers was played quite a bit while we were there. I'm not sure who the master is, but there plenty of games happening in the garage :)

Eckler Christmas

We have Christmas at mom & dad's the day after...not exactly bright & early, but early enough and still in pajamas we started off by opening presents, followed by Wii, lunch, sledding, and just hanging out before supper and we finished the night playing a new game I got from Kyle

It got pretty wild and a little chaotic at times when opening presents since we don't really take turns, but the kids had a blast and it goes faster that way. TJ was all decked out in his Mizzou Football outfit he got for Christmas and enjoyed diving through all the wrapping paper

After opening all the present it was time to play Wii while we waited for lunch. I think Kyle & Andi were the main Wii players :) Later in the day Travis, Jason, Andi, & TJ went sledding while the little boys took naps, I didn't get any pictures of that...it was too cold to be outside for very long and I opted to video while I was out there. I think I caught Travis & Jason both wiping out on tape!

Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve day is spent making & decorating Christmas cookies at my mom & dad's house and then we celebrate Christmas with the Hunolt side that night. While we all decorated cookies Jason snuck out to the woods for a while to deer hunt and made it back just in time to get ready for church. The kids all played some games at Hunolt Christmas after we ate. Kale was getting tired, but then got his second wind and started running around, spinning in circles, and "jumping" in the living room. I think he was entertainment for everyone in the room. I think he was asleep before we even backed out of the drive so getting him in bed so Santa could come was no problem!

Pollard Christmas

The weekend before Christmas we headed to Shelbina for Pollard Christmas. We headed back early Friday for supper, games, and to spend the night. It was a fun night, minus Kale getting sick. After almost no sleep we got up the next morning and Kale was fine and played like nothing was ever wrong. He took a quick nap and then it was time to open presents and the poor kid didn't feel good again. He spent the entire time we were opening gifts on Jason's lap not feeling well, but after a bath and another nap he was fine and once again played like nothing was ever wrong. I still have no idea what was wrong with him, but he was fine the rest of the night and the next day so it wasn't anything too serious. Other than Kale not feeling well it was a good weekend and we had a blast {like always} hanging out with everyone!

O' Christmas Tree

Every year {almost} we all "go home" to put up the Christmas tree at mom & dad's. This year we all were able to make it over when Kyle was back for a weekend. The tree was huge, like always, and by the end of the night looked perfect with lights, ornaments, & tinsel everywhere :) I didn't take a picture of the tree finished, but did get a few of the decorating. It was especially nice this year to help put up mom & dad's tree since we didn't put one up at home, that's right we didn't put up a tree or any other decorations...sad, but true. We were back in Missouri every weekend in December and just didn't have time to go pick out a tree so none of the decorations ever got brought down out of the attic. Jason asked me the weekend after Christmas "You know what the best thing about Christmas this year was?...not having to take down a tree!" I don't think that is going to be a new tradition, but rather a one time deal {I hope anyway}

One Month

Lane is gaining just as good as Kale did. At his one month checkup he weighed 9 pounds, 1 ounce, and was 21 3/4 inches long. He is awake a lot more now and also talks/screams/cries more. Kale still likes him for the most part, but still doesn't like to share Jason all the time. When Lane starts crying Kale has to look for him and always tries to find his pacifier which can be helpful, but it's not so helpful when Lane is sleeping and Kale runs over to him, squats down to get in his face, and yells "baby!" We are working on getting him to call his brother Lane instead of baby and I am hoping he can start to understand sometimes Lane is sleeping and doesn't need his pacifier! Anyway, here are a few pictures...Lane is definitely starting to fill out.

Thanksgiving is usually pretty busy {chaotic} at the big Eckler gathering, but this year I captured a few pictures and stole a couple from Diana :) We had lots of good food and the kids had a great time playing. I think there around 30 of us there and 22 missing! Crazy- I'm not sure where we all would have fit if everyone would have been there, but I'm sure we would have figured something out. The Wednesday before Thanksgiving we went to the Festival of Trees in Springfield. There were lots of Christmas trees decorated, a Gingerbread Village, Kale & Lane got their picture taken with Santa, and Kale & Jason rode the Candy Cane Express

Lane sleeping in his carseat. Besides getting out for his picture with Santa this is what Kale did the rest of the night. I have no pictures of the boys with Santa- the one they took for us was pretty much terrible so we might try to see the big guy at the mall someday to get a picture. Kale wasn't thrilled, but didn't scream or cry- he was good with sitting on Jason's knee next to Santa while Lane sat on his lap

Deer Season 2010

Jason left for deer season in MO the day before the boys & I headed to Louisville. That morning before he left, Kale & I made a hashbrown casserole for him to take to deer camp.

Kale, Lane, & I headed to Louisville, KY to the North American International Livestock Exposition with brave Uncle Kyle when Lane was just 10 days old to watch Kelly show. She did a great job, we had a great time, and I only took a few pictures to show it. I am hoping my wonderful Aunt Diana has more that I can steal later :) The boys both traveled pretty good, we were exhausted when we got home and are so thankful Kyle drove us home safely!

Kale has become quite the cheeser lately. I was taking some pictures of him playing with his tractor and only got a couple before he started saying "cheese" and smiling for me!
